Your 1st Class (Orientation) will meet on

August 15, 2023  9 am – 5:30 pm



CLASS WILL MEET ON THE FOLLOWING DAYS:

Tuesdays from 9 am – 5:30 pm

Thursdays from 9 am – 5:30 pm

BEFORE YOU BEGIN, READ EVERYTHING ON THE PAGE FIRST.

  • There are a total of 12 items you MUST complete.
  • Start at #1 and do NOT move on until you complete each item.
  • You have 14 business days from the date you registered for the EMT course to complete and submit this packet. 
 

PLEASE NOTE: Applications that are not received within 14 days will be purged and you will be required to re-enroll.

It is important to understand that from this point forward, you are being evaluated as an EMT candidate and on your ability to follow directions. 

1. EMT Application Checklist 2023 to make sure you have everything completed BEFORE uploading your documents.

  • Complete the items listed in the order we have them listed. Some items take longer to complete than other.
  • The items on this checklist are the same things you see below.  Use the paper checklist to keep track of what you need to complete
 

2. Schedule & Complete Drug Screening

  • Do this immediately.  It can take 7-10 business days for us to receive your test results.  
  • Click on this link to create your CastleBranch account and learn how to order your drug test:  Package Code EQ91dt: Drug Test
  • Follow the directions and if you have issues with your drug screening (with the website or scheduling) you must contact CastleBranch directly.
  • The current cost is $37
  • You will not upload anything from this step. Results will be sent directly to us.
 

3. Complete a Background Check

  • Click on this link to log into your CastleBranch account to order your background check:  Package Code EQ91bg: Background Check
  • You will click on “Place Order” and select ‘Background Check’ from the drop-down box
  • The current cost is $58
  • You will not upload anything from this step. Results will be sent directly to us.

4.  Schedule and Complete the RREMSA Return to School Physical and Immunizations -MUST use RREMSA Form below

  • Return to School Physical Form 2022-2023
  • Documentation of Immunization and Vaccination Records uploaded to the online portal. 

    • Your physician must provide a printout of the dates your immunizations were given.
  • IMMUNIZATION
  • Documentation of (2) MMR shots
    • Two MMR vaccinations at least 1 month apart after age 1 OR
    • Positive titers to measles, mumps, and rubella OR
    • Documentation of 2 measles, 2 mumps, and 1 rubella vaccination
  • Documentation of (2) Hepatitis A shots– in progress or completion of both series. Must provide dates of each.
  • Documentation of (3) Hepatitis B shots – in progress or completion of all three. Must provide dates of each.
  • Documentation of Negative PPD (Tuberculosis)
    • TB Blood Test within the last 12 months (IGRA) (T-Spot, Quantiferon Gold, etc) OR
    • Chest X-ray – in the last two years with documentation of official report (for positive results only)
  • Documentation of (2) Varicella shots- Series of two doses or immunity by a positive titer
    Documentation of T-dap. Must be within the last 10 years
  • Documentation of Current Flu Vaccination. Required between Oct 1 and March 31. These dates are subject to change per CDC guidelines.
  • Documentation of COVID 19 Vaccine and the Booster. Everyone 16 and older are now eligible to receive the COVID vaccine. Any manufacturer of the COVID 19 vaccine will be accepted. Must provide proof of the vaccine from your physician or medical provider.
  • Additional immunizations or vaccines could be required per CDC guidance.

Once completed, you will upload a copy and document each date in the portal.

 

5.  Complete one recommendation form.

  • You will email this electronic form to someone that can attest to the fact that you would be a great candidate for the EMS field.  This can be anyone you have worked with, a teacher, professor or someone you know in the EMS field.  A parent is not allowed to complete this.
  • Copy this and email it to the person you want to fill out your recommendation:

6.  American Heart Association (AHA) BLS CPR

  • No other CPR training will be accepted.  We will only accept American Heart Association BLS.
  • We will supply the AHA BLS class for a special discount. To take advantage of this offer follow these directions:
    • Step 1: $32 – You will pay the AHA directly to complete your online portion here: HEARTCODE BLS
      • Deadline to complete the online portion through the AHA and upload your completed certificate:  7/26/2023 by 5 pm
    • Step 2: $75 – You will receive a $10 discount if you complete your BLS training with us.  Just follow the instructions below:

      • When you check out, don’t forget to enter your discount code.  If you forget to use your discount code at checkout, we are not able to credit your account.
    • If you are not able to attend one of the sessions before your discount expires, you will not be able to take advantage of the reduced price.  
    • You can choose any BLS date listed as long as you have your training completed and your card turned in before the first day of class.
    • If you already have a current AHA BLS card, please upload a copy of your BLS card to the portal
 

7.  Copy of current health insurance card

  • Upload a copy of the front and back of your card. 

8.  Copy of Driver’s License (you must be 18 years of age)

  • Upload a copy of the front of your license.

9.  Copy High School Diploma, GED, or College Transcripts

  • Upload a copy of your diploma, GED or transcripts.

10.  Complete the Tuition Policy Form 

  • You may have reviewed the Tuition Policy at the time you registered online.  The online Tuition Policy was available for you to review when you paid your deposit.

11.  Uniform and Dress Code – DEADLINE for ALL uniform orders is 7/26/2023 by 5 pm.

  • This will help ensure we have your items in stock and ready for you on your first day of class.
  • All uniform orders are placed on our website.  For your convenience, we have included some of our most popular uniform items below.  If you are interested in purchasing them, simply click on each individual item below and you can purchase them directly from our bookstore.
  • When choosing shipping: be sure to choose: ‘Pick up at RREMSA’ Your items will be available on your first day of class. 
  • Since you may not have your uniform on your first day yet, please plan on wearing business casual on your first day.  You will have the opportunity to change into your uniform.
  • The items that are required for your uniform are listed below.
  • Required Items (You can purchase some of these items at other places as long as they meet the same requirements)
    • Patient Assessment Kit – Required.  If you purchase your own, it must include a stethoscope, adult blood pressure cuff, and penlight.
    • Dark navy blue, 5.11 EMS pantsRequired.  Our most popular pants are the Taclite EMS.
    • Uniform Polo – One is included in the EMT Course Fee.  If you want additional polos, you can order other polos (long sleeve, short sleeve) depending on your need.  Students who would like to wear a short sleeve t-shirt under their polo may only wear a white or RREMSA navy blue t-shirt.  Students who would like to wear a long sleeve t-shirt may only wear white.    
    • Black beltRequired. Our most popular belt is the TDU belt.
    • Black socks – Required. 100% black without logos.
    • Black boots or tennis shoes (must be 100% black). Required. Our most popular boot is the 6″ EMS Boot.
  • Optional Items
    • RREMSA Dark navy t-shirt – Optional.  This will be worn under your polo. You can also wear this T-shirt on lab days.  Feel free to wear this around town and show your school pride!
    • BLS Field GuideOptional. A must-have for every EMT to have in your pocket! Great information at your fingertips.
    • RREMSA Long Sleeve t-shirt – Optional. This can be worn under your polo or on lab days.  Great to wear around town!
    • RREMSA Hoodie – Optional.  This can be worn on lab days or around town on cooler days.  Feel free to show your school pride!
    • RREMSA Job Shirt – Optional.  This can be worn on any class day.  Comfortable, professional, and warm.  Great for cooler weather.
    • RREMSA Sweatshirt – Optional. This can be worn on any class day. Feel free to wear around town.
    • Long Sleeve Polo – Optional.  This can be worn on any class day and is great when you want something a little warmer.

12.  Order Textbooks and testing software. Approximately $300

  •  Package details will be emailed to you –
    • You will be emailed directions on how to complete this purchase.
    • Please note: If you purchase the textbooks from somewhere other than the link we provide you in the email, you must verify that the books are in brand-new condition.  You will need the access code in the book to connect to the online resources.
  • EMS Testing – 
    • You will be emailed directions on how to complete this purchase.
 

*Note: Must have a laptop or tablet for class and access to high-speed internet for course work and communication.  Students must have a current version of a full operating system of Microsoft or Apple on their laptop or tablet.  Chromebook will not be compatible with the course work. 

*Textbook and software bundle are NOT included.  NREMT Written Test, Missouri State Practical, and Licensure fees are NOT included.
