Becoming a Paramedic. Is it a good career?

Respond Right EMS Academy is owned and operated by local Paramedics, EMT’s and firefighters.  If you were to ask any one of them if the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) field is a good profession they would probably tell you, ‘Absolutely’.  This career provides an ever-changing, fast-paced environment with endless rewards.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), ‘People’s lives often depend on the quick reaction and competent care of emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics’.  There will be times in a paramedics’ career when they will be faced with a decision that will impact the outcome of the patients health.  Many times these split-second decisions will lead to an amazing outcome for the patient.  These are the moments paramedics will look back on and never forget.

One question that the staff of Respond Right EMS Academy hears almost every day is, ‘How easy is it to get a job after I graduate?’  Like any career, a new graduate must make themselves standout above the rest and begin networking.  One great aspect about the EMS field is that it continues to grow.  According to the BLS the job outlook is still ‘expected to grow 9% from 2008 – 2018’.  There are many reasons for this growth including current providers retiring, increasing call volume and urban sprawl which places increased demands on current EMS systems.

If you have thought about a career in EMS read more about the field on the Bureau of Labor Statistic website or visit us at Respond Right EMS Academy, 7491 Mexico Rd, St. Peters, MO  63376.
