There is an easy roadmap to complete your education and be prepared for your career in EMS. In the St. Louis and St. Charles County areas, students will benefit most by following these simple steps:
- Complete EMT School – Respond Right EMS Academy has four course a year for you to choose from
- Complete Paramedic School – Respond Right EMS Academy has two courses a year for you to choose from
- Complete the Fire Academy – You will most likely want to enter the St. Louis or St. Charles County Fire Academy.
Three simple steps to complete your education! Yes, it sounds simple, but completing each step will take commitment and determination. EMT class is approximately five months long and requires students to dedicate significant amount of time to study and prepare for class. The Paramedic program is approximately 13 months and students will be required to complete a minimum of 647 clinical hours. While Respond Right EMS Academy does not have any affiliation with the fire academy, they can provide you with advice on where to find application information.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2016-17 Edition, employment of emergency medical technicians (EMTs) and paramedics is projected to grow 24 percent from 2014 to 2024, which is much faster than the average for all occupations.
